The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of nuclear fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free energy source. For India, successful participation in ITER would provide vital insights into plasma physics and fusion technology, enabling the development of domestic fusion reactors. This aligns with India's energy security strategy by diversifying its energy sources and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, ultimately helping to meet rising energy demands sustainably.
