The Khasi Hills Community REDD+ project is recognized as the first Plan Vivo certified REDD+ project in India because it embodies the principles of sustainable forest management and community-based conservation. It aims to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation while promoting the socio-economic welfare of local communities through the sustainable use of forest resources.
